<p>2017 was the first year we had two BBTXLs! Bill Merrill planned this second trip. We traveled west across Oregon departing Bend on 2017/07/16 and arriving in Astoria on 2017/07/21.</p>
<h3>Day 1: Bend to Cougar Reservoir</h3>
<p>After Sister is a bit of climb, but at the top is the incredible <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dee_Wright_Observatory">Dee Wright Observatory</a> with panormaic views and hiking trails that snake through the lava fields.
<p>Camping: <a href="https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/willamette/recarea/?recid=4365">Delta Campground</a> (closed indefinitely in 2020 due to the <a href="https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/closures/7170/">Holiday Farm Fire</a>)</p>

<h3>Day 4: Corvalis to Grand Ronde</h3>
<p>When we were there, the Oregon State Transportation employee who operated the ferry was selling ice cream sandwiches for $1; would recommend!</p>
<p>Lunch: <a href="https://www.rogue.com/farms/rogue-farms-chatoe-tasting-room">Rouge Farm and Tasting Room</a> (now closed)</p>
<p>Camping: <a href="https://www.wanderingspiritrvpark.com/">Wandering Spirit RV Park</a></p>

<h3>Day 6: Barview Jetty to Astoria</h3>
<p>Attraction: <a href="https://www.nps.gov/lewi/index.htm">Lewis and Clark National Park</a>. A good place to fill up water; there's also hiking trails and better-than-expected exhibits. </p>
<iframe src="https://ridewithgps.com/embeds?type=route&id=17503996&title=BBTXL%3A%20O'BBTXL%20-%20Day%206&sampleGraph=true" style="width: 1px; min-width: 100%; height: 700px; border: none;" scrolling="no"></iframe>
<h3>Day 7: Hanging out in Astoria</h3>
<p>There is lots to see in town. There's a scenic riverwalk with lots of seafood, beer, and ice cream. The <a href="https://www.crmm.org/">Columbia River Maritime Museum</a> is great.</p>
<p>We ended by having a local bike shop pack up our bikes for shipping and took a <a href="https://www.nworegontransit.org/routes/lower_columbia_connector-2/">bus back to Portland</a>.</p>
