Netboot.xyz usb drive always fails to get DHCP

I have a USB flash drive with the default netboot.xyz 4mb iso installed on (it's shaped like a truck. This isnt relevant but in a world where Im surounded by bland usb drives at work, it tickles me).

When it boots, it tries to get dhcp for a split second but fails, so I always have to press M and manually assign it an IP and all the network info. Every other device gets dhcp instantly.

One thig that may be relevant, when I then choose to install ubuntu server (my usual goto for some of these machines), and tell it to download the installer, it says no link and says "waiting 30 seconds before retrying DHCP), and a few seconds later it says "link is up eth0" and continues.

It's a ubiquity edgeos router, by the way.

Is my router just slpw at giving dhcp? Is there any way anyone knows to set netboot.xyz to wait longer?
