The following packages are out of date:
kdeconnect
The version in the repository is 23.08.5, while the current version is 24.08.3
This matters because 23.08.5 does not support iPhone, whereas 24.08.3 does.
I tried to compile kdeconnect from source, but it won't work because:
extra-cmake-modules
is also too old. The version in the repository is 5.115.0, while the current version is 6.0 or later.
It may be that one of these packages:
kdesrc-build
kde-builder
might help with all of this, but they are not offered at all.
This has become very frustrating. I am new to the process of compiling and installing from source. When one step in the instructions doesn't work, I don't know how to interpret the error messages, so I have to spend hours on the web trying to find out why it didn't work, generally resulting in waiting for days for a response on a support site. Further, when a package doesn't compile because a component is too old or missing, I have to try to find the new version, and compile that. When that fails because some other component is out of date or missing, it results in an endless cascade of one failure after another that ultimately gets me nowhere.
To say this is extremely frustrating is an understatement.
None of this would be necessary if your packages were up to date.
