Information about the site entry to be updated:

  • Site name - Google (appear in multiple instances: Google Drive, Google Cloud Platform, Hangouts, Google Domains, Gmail, Google Play, Google Fit, Google Pay, Google Fi, Google Fiber)
  • Site URL - https://drive.google.com/, https://cloud.google.com/, https://hangouts.google.com/, https://domains.google.com/, https://mail.google.com/, https://play.google.com/, https://fit.google.com/, https://pay.google.com/, https://fi.google.com/, https://fiber.google.com/
  • Site category - Backup and Sync, Cloud Computing, Communication, Domains, Email, Entertainment, Health, Payments, Utilities

Information about why the site entry should be updated:

This site entry should be updated because:

  • It now supports 2FA.
  • The methods of 2FA that it supports have changed.
  • It has begun the process of implementing 2FA.
  • It no longer supports 2FA.
  • Its name has changed.
  • Its documentation link has changed.
  • Its Twitter username, Facebook page, and/or email address have changed.
  • It fits better in a different category.
  • Its logo has changed.
  • It has been acquired or absorbed by another site, and the new site is eligible to be listed on twofactorauth.org.
  • Other (please describe below).

Information about how the site entry should be updated:

To enable 2FA, Google requires setting up either the Phone or the Hardware Token first. So, TOTP 2FA cannot be enabled without enabling any of the other methods. Here is the discussion: https://support.google.com/accounts/thread/5185475?hl=en
And the screenshot of the problem:

Should probably be added to the "exception" info.

Hi,
I have one more issue with Google but don't sure this should be separate post.
2fa.directory says Google "requires proprietary app/software".
But Google says "You can set up Google Authenticator or another app that creates one-time verification codes".
You can use any third-party applications. Perhaps this contradiction should be corrected.
Thanks

@Vilmodao both TOTP and propriety software 2FA are listed. The ✅ means any TOTP program works while the i-symbol indicates custom solutions. The tooltips also describe this.

Please also note that it's standard etiquette to create new issues rather than posting in old and unrelated issues as that causes unnecessary spam to other users.
